Measurement Instructions
Considerations
• Every u-joint, tripod joints and u-joint couplings has their own specific measurement way.
• Some types of u-joints may belong to mutiple product lines. In each case that will be indicated with the corresponding label.
• In the case of parts with exposed retainer, remove them before measuring.
• For an exact measurement, use a caliper.
4 plain cups.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1) of the 4 cups..
2 | Measure (A1) over the end of the outer faces of the opposing cups.
4 groveed cups.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1) of the 4 cups.
2 | Measure (B1) on the assembled part on the inside of the opposing groveed cups.
2 plain cups and 2 groveed cups.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1) of the 2 groveed cups and (C1’) of the 2 plain cups.
2 | Measure (A1) over the end of the outer faces of the opposing plain cups.
3 | Measure (B1) on the assembled piece on the inside of the slots of the opposing groveed cups.
4 flanged cups / 4 low wing cups / 2 flanged cups and 2 low wing cups.
1 | Measure the distance between hole centers (C2) and lock width (C3) of the 4 cups.
2 | Measure (D1) on the part between the hole centers of the opposing cups, and measure (D2) between the outside radio of the opposing cups.
2 flanged cups and 2 plain cups.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1) of the 2 plain cups.
2 | Measure (A1) over the end of the outer faces of the opposing plain cups.
3 | Measure the distance between hole centers (C2) and lock width (C3) of the flanged cups.
4 | Measure (D1) on the part between the hole centers of the opposing cups, and measure (D2) between the outside radio of the opposing flanged cups.
2 flanged cups and 2 grooved cups.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1) of the 2 groveed cups.
2 | Measure (B1) on the assembled part on the inside of the slots of the opposing groveed cups.
3 | Measure the distance between hole centers (C2) and lock width (C3) of the flanged cups.
4 | Measure (D1) on the part between the hole centers of the opposing cups, and measure (D2) between the outside radio of the opposing cups.
4 plain cups and 2 different lengths.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1/C1’) of the 4 cups.
2 | Measure (A1) over the end of the outer faces of the opposing cups.
3 | Measure (A2) over the end of the outer faces of the other opposing cups.
4 plain cups with retainer plates.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1) of the 4 plain cups, and the distance between the 2 holes (C4) of the 4 retainer plates.
2 | 2| Measure (A2) over the end of the outer faces of the opposing cups with retainer plates.
2 plain cups and 2 plain cups with retainer plates.
1 | Measure the outer diameter of the 2 plain cups (C1) and the 2 plain cups with retainer plates (C1’).
2 | Measure (A1) over the end of the outer faces of the opposing plain cups.
3 | Measure (A1) over the end of the outer faces of the opposing plain cups with retainer plates.
4 plain cups for retainer plates.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1) of the 4 cups.
2 | Measure (A2) over the end of the outer faces of the opposing cups.
Tripod joints ring type cups.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1) and height (H) of all 3 rings.
2 | Count the number of stretch marks (Z).
3 | Measure the inscribed circumference of the tripod joint (S1).
4 | Measure the internal diameter (C1) over the stretch marks.
Tripod joints ring type cups with oscillating bearings.
1 | Measure the outer diameter (C1) and height (H) of all 3 rings.
2 | Count the number of stretch marks (Z).
3 | Measure the inscribed circumference of the tripod joint (S1).
4 | Measure the internal diameter (C1) over the stretch marks.
